Regularly recorded resident species include Besra, Black Eagle, Mountain Hawk-Eagle, Kalij Pheasant, Common Hill Partridge, Ashy Woodpigeon, Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon, Mountain Scops Owl, Collared Owlet, Golden-throated Barbet, Speckled Piculet among others and a further 55 species have been known to visit the area as migratory or occasional visitors. Phulchowki's forests are also very rich in flora and butterflies. Mammals include Leopard, Yellow-throated Marten and Orange-bellied Squirrel.

Chitwan National Park appriximate 150 kilomiters away from kathmandu offers more than 450 species of birds including the endangered birds are the Bengal florican, Giant horn bill, Lesser florican, black stork and white stork. Common birds seem in the park include the peafowl, red jungle fowl, and different species of egrets, herons, kingfishers, fly catchers, and wood peckers. Moreover, more than 45 species of amphibians and reptiles are visible in the park. Chitwan National Park offers many finest lodges for the accomodation inside as well as outside the park area. Bardia National Park, 500 kilomiters away from kathmandu, which is considered as the best National Park after Chitwan National Park offers Bengal florican, lesser florican, silver-eared mesia, Saurus crane and other common birds of nature. Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area offers over 400 species of birds which includes two species of bird never before seem in Nepal- the spotted wren babbler and the olive ground warbler.

Other national parks and reserves include Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve offering over 200 species of birds. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve offers 280 species of birds, but in koshi tappu conservation area number of birds species in increasing order, which include 20 species of ducks, 2 species of ibises, many storks, egrets, herons and the endangered swamp patriadge and Bengal florican. Shey Phoksundo National Park ( northwestern side of kathmandu ) is equally rich in many species of birds such as the impeyan pheasant (danphe- the national bird of Nepal), blood pheasant, cheer pheasants, red and yellow billed cough, raven, jungle crow, snow partridge and many others. Rara National Park offers Resident Gallinaceous birds and migrant waterfowl are of interest to park visitors. The great -crested grebe, black-necked grebe and red crested pochard are seemed during winter. Other common birds are the snow cough, chukor patridge, impeyan pheasant, Kalij pheasant and blood pheasant.

March and December are considered as the best time for bird watching tour however, one can do in other time as well from Sep - Nov & Mar - May.
